Representative Scarsdale never stops fighting for Groton.

Local Accomplishments:

  • Voted for tax relief for working families and small businesses, which will keep more money in the pockets of Groton families

  • Voted to expand benefits for veterans and passed into law an amendment to strengthen the benefits of fully disabled veterans

  • Voted for historic investments in housing and economic development, investments which will help keep Groton vibrant and affordable

  • Supported a federal grant application for Groton-Dunstable Regional School District for millions of dollars in energy efficiency upgrades

  • Voted for significant climate legislation, which will expand clean energy investment and accelerate the transition to net-zero

  • Hosted a Joint Committee on Community Development and Small Business Listening Tour at Groton Hill Music Center with economic development and small business leaders from across the district

  • Hosted Select Boards, FinComs, School Committees & Superintendents, Town Managers/Admin, and Department of Elementary and Secondary Education experts for a first-of-its-kind meeting on the school funding shortfalls facing Groton and communities across the First Middlesex District at the Groton Center

  • Helped host the first-ever Destination Groton Fall Tourism Conference

  • Holds regular office hours at the Library and the Groton Center

  • Regularly attends community events in Groton

Funding Secured:

In partnership with Senator John Cronin and Rep. Dan Sena, Rep. Scarsdale has helped
secure the following funding for Groton:

  • $6,100,000 to offset cost overruns at the new Florence Roche Elementary School

  • $250,000 bond earmark for affordable housing projects in Groton

  • $25,000 for sidewalks on West Main Street and Route 40

  • $15,000 for the Destination Groton Committee

Legislative Priorities:

  • Funding for the Groton-Dunstable Regional School District, in particular for the unfunded mandate for regional school transportation. Rep. Scarsdale is the House champion on this issue and is continuing to organize her colleagues around fully funding this mandate

  • Drive down the cost of living, particularly for seniors and working families. This includes targeted tax relief, investment in economic development and affordable housing, and continuing to fight for Groton’s fair share of state resources on Beacon Hill

  • Protect Groton’s rural character by preserving our environment, open space, and natural resources. Rep. Scarsdale works closely with local partners like the Nashua River Watershed Association in this work

  • Ensure access to physical and mental health care by organizing against the closure of local hospitals, in particular, Nashoba Valley Medical Center
