MSBA Grant Payment Indicates Significant Investments in 1st Middlesex Educational Infrastructure

Status of implementation for legislation (1596-2431- MSBA Capital Supports)

Groton-Dunstable, MA – May 9, 2024 –

Massachusetts School Building Authority’s (MSBA) recent grant payment of $6,147,028 in support of the Florence Roche School project marks a significant investment in the enhancement of educational infrastructure within the First Middlesex District.

The grant payment, issued on or about May 3, 2024, includes a $4,483,244 supplemental allocation, and follows the MSBA’s Board of Directors approval of legislation to implement supplemental grants on October 25, 2023. This broader legislative effort (1596-2431- MSBA Capital Supports) is aimed at providing additional funding to 30 school projects across the Commonwealth, totaling roughly $270 million.

The Fiscal Year 2024 Commonwealth Budget included $100 million towards these grants to be paid by June 30, 2024. Because of the Interagency Agreement with the Executive Office of Education, $50 million of the $100 million has been transferred to the MSBA, with the next payments expected June 1st. A report detailing grant award recipients and the amount received is to be submitted to the Executive Office of Administration and Finance, the Joint Committee on Education, and House and Senate Committees on Ways and Means no later than May 31, 2024.

As the project progresses, Groton-Dunstable officials look forward to continued partnership with the MSBA and other stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of the Florence Roche School project.
